When you're learning to spell a new word, try these top tips.

Break the word down into smaller parts

If a word has silent letters, try pronouncing it exactly as you'd spell it

Make up a sentence to help you remember the word

Make up a phrase to help you remember how the words are connected.
For example, It's apparent that we can't pay the rent.

Write out word correctly and copy


If there's a word that you always struggle with or get wrong, write it out correctly, and then copy it out loads of times until you always get it right without looking.

Think about the spelling rules you know


For example, the letter q is nearly always followed by the letter u.
