How to log in as a child

Once you've set up your child, they can log in from the homepage with the username and password you've set up for them.

Once your child has logged in, they're ready to go on a spelling adventure. However, before they get started, let them have a look around the site and update their profile.

How to manage your profile

From the homepage select profile. Here you can create a nickname and change your avatar. You can also change your password if you need to. Please remember to keep your password safe.

Once you start going on spelling adventures, all the stars you collect will build up here in your star chart. You'll see your total stars earned and the stars you've earned for this week.

Now, let's get onto learning spellings. From the menu, select spelling.

You'll now see the main Spell Wizards spelling game. The first thing to do is, select the level you'd like to play at.

There are 3 levels, easy, medium and hard.

Easy level: If you play on the easy level, the word you're learning to spell, is first shown to you so you can memorise it. Then, after the word is read out, you'll also see the first letter of the word and dashes for the number of letters in the word.
Medium level: If you play on the medium level, the word you're learning to spell is read out to you. After the word is read out, you'll see dashes for the number of letters in the word.
Hard level: If you play on the hard level, the word you're learning to spell is only read out to you. You won't get any other hints.

Next, choose your school year, from foundation to year 6. The spelling given to you will be based on the year group you've chosen.

Great, now you're on a spelling adventure. Depending on the device you're using (smart phone, tablet or computer) the spelling may be read out to you automatically. If not, just click on the play button and the spelling will be read out to you again.

Type the word you've been asked to spell in the middle box, where it says "Type in here!"

If you get the spelling correct, you'll see a tick confirming that the spelling was correct. If you don't get the spelling correct, the tick won't appear.

As you start typing the spelling, a help button will appear at the top. You can click on this to get a hint.

Please remember, if you do this, the spelling will be marked as incorrect and not count towards your stars chart.

Awesome, you've just completed a spelling adventure!

The star chart at the end will give you your star score and then you can:
View your results.
Replay the same spelling list again.
Go back to the main menu.

Sentences are a great way to learn your spellings and understand how the word is used. When you're on a spelling adventure, just click on the text below the spelling box to either: show or hide sentence.
